Exit Drills In The Homes
Campbelltown Vol. Fire Co is dedicated to fire safety that should be learned by your whole family. There are many families torn apart by tragedy each year that could have been avoided if some simple steps were learned and taken. Please take the time to sit down with your family and read this information.
First you need to make sure your family knows the number to dial in case of an emergency. In South Londonderry Township, Campbelltown, PA call 911 for all emergencies. Make sure you know your correct address and your telephone number. Directions to your home may also be needed.
Be sure to check the battery in your smoke detector. You should make it a common practice to change the battery when you change your clocks.
If a fire breaks out in your house, it is very important that every one knows what to do. Sit down with your family and draw a floor plan of your home. While every home is different, there are some things that all home fire escape plans have in common. Your family's home fire escape plan needs to show:
all of the rooms in your home
two ways out of every room
at least one smoke alarm in or near each sleeping area and on each level of your home
a meeting place outside the home
if possible 2 paths from each room to the meeting place
to call 911 to report the fire
If you need more assistance in creating your plan feel free to contact our Fire Chief at 717-838-3707 (pick 5) or visit our fire station any Monday night starting at 6:30 PM
The Fire Safety House will teach you how to escape a fire in your home without putting you in danger of toxic smoke, gases and heat. This house is used as a teaching tool for young and old. This is the house that could help save your life. 13,000 people have gone through the fire safety house.
Loaned out to surrounding mutual aid companies, this house has become an essential part of our fire prevention program. If you are interested in using our Fire Safety house in your training programs you can leave a message for our Fire Chief at 717-838-3707.
