Training this evening were Run In's. Crews did 5 evolutions hitting hydrants, laying 5 inch, hooking up to stand pipes and sprinkler systems, and pulling hand lines. Sorry, no photos are available.
Today several members were at station and went out to draft Engine 2 to help the probationary firefighters complete their probie book.
On Saturday 10 members were standing by at Station 2 as the storms went through the area. There were no calls for service but the crew had a great time together and had 100 wings! Training this evening was CPR re-certification. Thirty members are now updated on their CPR training.
There is a HIGH WIND ADVISORY through 5 PM today. Be careful of potential trees or wires on roadways.
Station 2 was dispatched to a reported structure fire, smoke in the basement. Engine 2 with 6 (Chief Sell) arrived to find a smoke condition. Engine 2 hit the hydrant in front of the structure and the crew pulled the 300 ft. 1 3/4 hand line. Tanker 2 and Rescue 2 staged with manpower forward. Truck 1 set up in front of the structure and sent manpower forward. It was found that rags used for staining were in the wood stove and had smoldered and spontaneous combusted. Crews vented the basement and returned. There was no damage.
Crews were dispatched to a 2 vehicle accident at Forge and Airport. Engine 2 with 5 (Safety Ed) responded and did basic vehicle ops.
